The Story
The perfect celebratory gift! A bottle of our own label Champagne, paired with cheeses selected by our cheesemongers for their ability to enhance and complement the fizz.
PLEASE NOTE:
During the hot spell we cannot guarantee your cheese will arrive at a chilled temperature even though we have added more frozen blocks to the box. As soon as the cheese arrives at destination please put straight into the fridge. We would suggest you consume the cheeses more chilled rather than bring to room temperature again. However, please think carefully before ordering during this hot spell.
CHEESE
- Truffle Camembert | Normandy, Thermised Cow's Milk (250g). A Camembert with a filling of mascarpone and chopped black truffles. This is a rich and decadent combination. The truffles bring out the earthy, brassica notes of the cheese, while the Camembert rounds the flavour of the truffle into a massively aromatic depth. Made in-house by our cheesemongers, it is ideal for parties of 4 - 6 guests.
- Langres | Champagne, Thermised Cow's Milk (180g). Drum-shaped with a depressed, crater-like top (due to not turning the cheese during early affinage) with a soft, luminous, pale orange rind. Washed in Marc du Champagne, the interior pate is rich, moist, and spicy, and should be almost melting below the rind with a flaky centre.
- Beaufort Chalet D'Alpage | Savoie, Unpasteurised Cow's Milk (250g). The raison d'être of La Fromagerie. A classic high mountain cheese from small traditional producers selecting cheeses from the summer milk forms, made and matured at high altitudes in mountain chalets. The pate is a creamy, pale gold colour, smooth in texture, but as it ages cracks appear, ripening the cheese. The flavours are lovely – with an almost sweet almond nuttiness.
- Bleu de Queyras | Haute-Alpes, Unpasteurised Ewe's Milk (250g). The local cheeses from the Haute Alpes are mostly hard ewe and goat with a few softer styles. However the blue is really delicious with a light, floral nuttiness that is gentle and soft when young; becoming spicier with maturing.
